Employees Recognized for 30 Years of Service to the State of Arkansas
Four Arkansas Department of Correction employees were recognized for 30 years of service to the State of Arkansas on March 2, 2018 by Director Wendy Kelley and members of the ADC Management Team. Denise Edwards, Willie Harris, Moses Jackson, and Tina Owens were all presented with plaques commemorating the career milestone. The ADC is grateful for all you’ve contributed to this agency and our state over the years!

Kimeron Hubbard Recieves Recognition for Assisting Communities Affected by Hurricanes
The agency would like acknowledge Administrative Specialist III, Kimeron Hubbard from the Grimes Unit for his efforts in assisting communities affected by the effects of Hurricane’s Harvey, Irma, and Maria. On August 25, 2017, Mr. Hubbard was deployed to Houston, Texas during Hurricanes Harvey an Irma; and then to San Juan, Puerto Rico on September 8th during Hurricane Maria. Mr. Hubbard serves as a Logistics Chief with the National Disaster Medical System (NDMS). The purpose of NDMS is to support local, State, Tribal and Territorial authorities following disasters and emergencies by supplementing health, medical systems and response capabilities. When tragedies strike and mass medical care is needed, NDMS is our nation’s medical tactical response team.
On December 6, 2017, the Grimes Unit received a Certificate of Appreciation from the NDMS as a thank you for affording Mr. Hubbard the opportunity to be of assistance during and following the disasters of the hurricanes. NDMS stated that “Mr. Hubbard’s contributions to the mission and support to the other NDMS colleagues were exemplary.”

Amanda Pasley and Kathy Lowery attended the Relias Learning Conference in Orlando, Florida on October 2–4.Prior to the conference, Amanda Pasley submitted an essay and powerpoint which detailed how the ADC saves money and time by using on-line learning. Amanda and Kathy accepted the “Bottom Line” award on behalf of the Department. Director Kelly and the Management Team acknowledged and thanked Amanda and Kathy for their hardwork and dedication.

Captain Wallace McNary named ASEA Outstanding State Employee of the Year
Arkansas State Employee Association (ASEA) named Captain Wallace McNary from the East Arkanas Regional Unit, Outstanding State Employee of the Year.

Wallace McNary was the eldest of eight boys born to Ernestine and Wallace McNary, Sr. Although born in Memphis, Tennessee on January 9, 1958, he was raised and schooled in St. Louis Missouri at Normandy Senior HIgh School. After graduating from Normandy Senior High in 1977, he immediately joined the ranks of the few, the proud and brave that we call the United States Marines. He selflessly devoted over 12 years of his life ensuring there was freedom and democracy around the world. Wallace McNary’s ambition, drive and poise to be the best that he could be, were determining factors in him furthering his education at National University in 1983, where he earned his Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice. His natural calling to serve as a Correctional Officer came in 1978 when he moved back to Marianna, Arkansas and pursued his dream. Wallace McNary was a natural Leader in corrections, as he has been in all endeavors in his life, and naturally flourished by quickly advancing through the ranks. His life became complete in 2003 after meeting the love of his life and marrying Mrs. Debra McNary. They currently reside in Forrest City, Arkansas where they are raising their only great grandson who is Mr. McNary’s pride and joy, Demetrius Johnson!
