In May 2022, the Arkansas Department of Corrections and Wellpath celebrated the opening of a new chemotherapy clinic at the Grimes Unit. On August 1, 2023, the Grimes Chemo Team began mixing chemotherapy onsite. This makes them the only facility within Wellpath to accomplish this feat, and it is believed to be the only correctional facility in the nation to be doing this. By mixing the chemotherapy onsite, it will allow more control over when infusions take place, resulting in overall better patient care.

All this would not be possible without the leadership of Lynda Teague, HSA. She has been a key player in getting the chemotherapy mixing program up and running at the Grimes Unit. Also, we would like to thank to Ashley Wells, DON, for her support for the nursing staff, and Wellpath Regional Manager Jason Kelly, RN, CCHP for the hard work he has put into the program. Lastly, thank you to the Grimes Chemo Team who have been very patient through this whole process and shown true dedication to their patients!
