This year marks the 26th annual Pretrial, Probation and Parole Supervision (PPPS) Week, a celebration that originated in 1999 when APPA members began to request that states across the country recognize the valuable employees in community corrections.

In 1999, APPA began lobbying every state to make a proclamation that one week in July is PPPS Week. This was a simple and powerful statement each state could make in celebration of the men and women who spend their days working to improve outcomes, both for the individual AND for the public safety of our communities.

On June 26, 2026, Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders proclaimed July 19th through 25th, 2026 as  Pretrial, Probation and Parole Supervision (PPPS) Week. Governor Sanders stated, ” With the theme, ‘Connected for Change: Building Bridges in Supervision,’ National Pretrial, Probation, and Parole Supervision Week offers an opportunity to recognize and honor the commitment, integrity, courage, and service of Arkansas’s Community Supervision professionals, who work tirelessly to safeguard our communities and guide individuals toward lasting change.”

The Arkansas Department of Corrections wants our staff to know how much we appreciate the job they do every day to help keep our communities safe. We are thankful for our incredible community supervision professionals who are building stronger communities by helping to bridge the gap between the judicial system and our communities. TO ALL TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS COME – GREETINGS:

WHEREAS: Community Supervision Officers and Agents serve as a vital pillar of the Arkansas justice system, carrying out their duties with professionalism and integrity to protect public safety and ensure that individuals under supervision are held accountable; and

WHEREAS: Each day, these dedicated professionals perform demanding and often unseen work that shapes the futures of more than 70,000 Arkansans striving to successfully reintegrate into society, while balancing accountability with the opportunity for personal growth and change; and

WHEREAS: Community Supervision professionals play a transformative role in our state, guiding individuals toward lawful, productive lives by providing structured supervision, meaningful support, and pathways to reducing recidivism in the state of Arkansas; and

WHEREAS: Community Supervision Officers collaborate closely with local, state, and federal law enforcement partners, as well as treatment providers, social service agencies, and workforce organizations, to deliver prevention, intervention, and second chances for returning citizens; and

WHEREAS: The Protect Arkansas Act of 2023 charged Community Supervision Officers with implementing evidence‑based practices proven to reduce recidivism, strengthen public safety, and promote successful reintegration for those reentering their communities; and

WHEREAS: With the theme “Connected for Change: Building Bridges in Supervision,” National Pretrial, Probation, and Parole Supervision Week offers an opportunity to recognize and honor the commitment, integrity, courage, and service of Arkansas’s Community Supervision professionals, who work tirelessly to safeguard our communities and guide individuals toward lasting change;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, SARAH HUCKABEE SANDERS, Governor of the State of Arkansas,

by virtue of the authority vested in me by the laws of the State of Arkansas,

do hereby proclaim July 19 through 25, 2026, as

“PRETRIAL, PROBATION, AND PAROLE SUPERVISION WEEK”
