Comedian Jeff Foxworthy

Comedian Jeff Foxworthy took time while in Little Rock for a performance, to discuss the importance of growing partnerships between the state and faith groups to address homelessness, the need for more foster/adoptive parents, and offender reentry. Pictured with Foxworthy (fourth from left), are Governor Asa Hutchinson (second from the left), members of ACC management, Board of Corrections Member Dr. William “Dubs” Byers (second from the right), and ADC Public Information Officer Solomon Graves (far right). Those in attendance were challenged to think outside of the box and to ANSWER THE CALL!

Ouachita River Correctional Unit hosted its annual Law Enforcement Emergency Preparedness meeting

On February 19, the Ouachita River Correctional Unit (ORCU) hosted its annual Law Enforcement Emergency Preparedness meeting.  The meeting was attended by Director Wendy Kelly, Chief Deputy Director Dale Reed, Deputy Director Dexter Payne, Warden Nurzuhal Faust, Deputy Wardens Gary Musselwhite and Thomas Hurst; along with other ORCU employees.  Several outside agencies, including the Arkansas State Police, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, and staff from the Malvern Police Department and Hot Spring County Sherriff’s Department were also in attendance.

Discussions were held regarding the utilization of ORCU’s K-9 Team and of the ORCU Regional Maintenance Department for such events as escapes, natural disasters, civil disturbances, and community clean-ups.  The outside agencies also discussed how they could assist ORCU.

After the discussions were concluded, a Unit tour was led by Lt. Adam Clark, ORCU Emergency Preparedness Coordinator, and lunch was provided.

Genia Davis

Genia Davis, Administrative Assistant III, recently left ORCU to pursue other interests.

Davis began her career with the ADC on October 4, 2004 as the Warden’s secretary and remained in that position until January 15, 2016.  She said she worked under two great bosses, M.D. Reed and Nurzuhal Faust, and also said she met a lot of great people during her years with the ADC.

ORCU employees didn’t want to say goodbye, so they said “see ya later.”
